End of 2011 term & Christmas Party

Next Saturday 10th December will be the last of our current term. During this the final class of the term parents are invited to visit their children's class for the final 10 minutes to enjoy a mini-recital and to see for themselves just how far they have come.

Our Christmas party will also take place on the evening of Saturday 10th December at 6:00 PM in St gabriel's parish hall in Dollymount. All students and their families are invited to attend including those only attending classes on Saturday mornings.

The new term will start on Saturday 14th January 2012.

Club Night - Clontarf Yacht Club Friday December 2nd 2011

The last club night of the season takes place on Friday evening December 2nd in Clontarf Yacht Club, Clontarf Road. Join us for a night of music, song, dance and craic. All (over 18s) welcome!

Fund Raising Horse Racing Night on 21 October 2011

Our fundraising Horse Racing night will take place this Friday (21st October) in the CYMS Hall on Philipsburgh Avenue, Fairview. Doors (and bar) open at 8.00pm and races start at 9.00pm. There will be great music, song and dance after the races. The event promises to be great fun. This is an important fund raising event for the club so please to come along and support it, and bring friends. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Trips to Drumshanbo

During the weekend 8/9 October our Under 18 group travelled to Drumshanbo while the following weekend 15/16 October our Under 15 group also travelled there. Both groups visited the Arigna mining experience while fun, games and and music were the high ponts on the agenda for the rest of the time. Our young players had a great time and thanks also to the many parents who helped out.

Enrolment Saturday September 3rd 2011

After a busy and successful summer at festivals and fleadheanna our 2011/2012 programme kicks off early Septemnber. Enrolment for our music classes takes place on Saturday September 3rd from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM in Marino College, Marino Mart.

Cluain Tarbh at Heritage Week 2011

Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh play at the Casino in Marino as part of the Heritage Week celebrations. Our musicians play Saturday 27th August from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and on Sunday 28th August from 2:30 to 3:30 PM. We'd be delighted if you could join us!

Traditional Singing Workshop Saturday May 21st 2011

Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh is hosting a traditional singing workshop led by the great singer and songwriter Kieran wade. It takes place in St Gabriel's Parish Centre on Saturday 21st May from 4:30PM to 5:50PM. All welcome from age 15 upwards. The cost is only €3.

Cluain Tarbh at the Irish College, Louvain, St Patrick's Day 2011

Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh is honoured to be invited by the Irish Embassy in Brussels to perform at the St Patrick's Day celebrations at the historic Irish College in Leuven (Louvain) on the 17th of March 2011.

Reels on Wheels Sunday 20th February 2011

The Reels On Wheels initiative encourages session playing and social interaction among 14 - 18 year olds. It is a co-operative initiative organised by members of Ceoltóirí Chluain tarbh and various branches of Comhaltas. The sessions take place in various venues throughout the country.
The next session is in Faughs GAA Club in Templeogue, Dublin at 4pm on Sunday 20th Feb 2011 with Craobh Naithi as hosts. There will be two separate sessions. Teenagers from 14 to 17 in one session and adults from 18 to 80 in the other.

Cluain Tarbh @ Temple Bar Trad

Cluain Tarbh play the Temple Bar Trad Festival on January 30th 2011. There will be two recitals - from 12:30 PM to 13:10 PM and from 13.20 till 14.00 pm.

Cluain Tarbh @ The Mansion House 12th December 2010

Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh is honoured to be asked to participate at the Lord Mayor's Christmas Concert in the Mansion House on 12th December 2010.

Christmas 2010

Now that the weather has improved somewhat, classes in Marino will go ahead as usual this Saturday (11th Dec). This will be the final class of this term.
The Christmas concert, featuring Under 12, Under 15, Under 18 and Over 18 groups, will be held in St Gabriel’s on Saturday evening. All members are invited to attend. As usual, we expect a ‘special visitor’ to be in attendance so children of all ages are welcome.
Please come along to meet other members and hear some fabulous music. If you can, bring a cake / biscuits with you and they will be served with tea/coffee.

Cluain Tarbh @ The Mansion House 29th October 2010

On the evening of Friday 29th October 2010 Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh are the guests of the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr. Gerry Breen. The proceedings will take place in the Mansion House on Dawson St, Dublin 2.

Under 18 Group Trip to Drumshambo 16th/17th October 2010

The Under 18s are going on an overnight trip to Drumshanbo on Saturday 16th October returning the next day. They will be staying in the hostel on Saturday night and will return to Dublin on Sunday afternoon. The cost is €25.00 which covers the cost of the accomodation, an evening meal on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning.
We will need parents to travel to ensure everyone has a lift and also to help out. Please let Willie Caffrey know if you plan to travel or not.

Ace and Duece of Piping Concert

Na Píobairí Uilleann presents The Ace and Deuce of Piping in Liberty Hall on Saturday 9th October 2010 at 8 PM.
This year the concert features Tommy Keane and Jacqueline McCarthy (Uilleann Pipes and Concertina), Seán Keane of the Chieftains (Fiddle), Cathal McConnell (Flute and Songs) and lots more.

Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh 2010/2011 programme

After a busy and successful summer at festivals and fleadheanna our 2010/2011 programme kicks off early Septemnber. Enrolment for our music classes takes place on Saturday September 4th from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

This year we have a number of exciting new initiatives to announce.

We will be holding a beginners' tin whistle class on wednesday evenings 7:00 to 8:00 for children in Carlton Hall in Marino to cater for young people who cannot make it to our Saturday morning classes because of sporting and other commitments that clash. Watch this space for more details.

And we haven't forgotten the adult learners either! We are delighted that our Tuesday night adult class/session is so successful and the participants have improved so much that they can't really be considered beginners anymore!
So to cater for beginners we are starting a new "entry level" class. This will be suitable for adults playing for 1 to 2 years. This will take place on Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 8:00 in the Artane Beaument centre.
Our intermediate level class will take place on Tuesdays from 8:00 to 10:00 at the same venue and is suitable for adults with 3 years or more playing behind them.
We resume Tuesday September 9th. There is more information about our adult programme here.

Cluain Tarbh Four win Scór

Congratulations to cousins Siomha Mulligan, Meabh Mulligan, Fiacra Mulligan and Caoimhe Mulligan all members of Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh who won the GAA Scór competition. The four played played at half time during the Dublin v Tyrone game on Saturday July 31 2010.

Cluain Tarbh success at Fleadh Átha Cliath 2010

2010 was another great year for Clontarf groups, bands and solo performers with so many getting through to Leinster. Congratulations to all competitors! Well done especially to all the teachers who worked so hard during the year.

Cibé success at Siansa

Congratulations to the eight members of Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh who form the group CIBÉ, and who came third the All-Ireland Siansa Gael-Linn competition 2010.
The members of CIBÉ are: Dónal Egan, Emer Maloney, Aoife Ní Argáin, Kevin Wade, James Doolan, Barbara O’ Connor, Gráinne Egan and Maria Doolan.

Gala Concert Liberty Hall Friday 30th April 2010

This year our annual concert takes place in Liberty Hall on Friday April 30th as part of the Five Lamps Arts Festival. Another fantastic night of traditional music, song and dance is on offer. Anyone who was there last year will remember how great that night was!
This year the featured artists include legendary piper Mick O'Brien, fiddle player Aoife Ní Bhriain and sean nós singer Eoghan Ó'Ceannabháin.
Also featuring is well-known traditional singer Joan McDermott (ex lead singer with the band Providence). And of course our own young musicians will be there as well.

Seinn/Shine

Seinn/Shine is an innovative programme initiated by the Arts Office of Dublin City Council. The idea is to offer young traditional musicians of secondary school age the opportunity to showcase their skills in a non-competitive, safe and alcohol-free environment. There is an initial pilot series of 3 monthly events at the City Wall Space, Civic Offices, Wood Quay.
Admission is free and all are welcome.

Easter in Inis Oirr 2010

This year the club decamps for the eighth year to the beautiful island of Inis Oirr for Easter. All members are welcome.
If you have never been there before do consider coming this year. It's always a great weekend full of fun, music, song and dance. Plus there are walks, historical tours, a sports day, an easter egg hunt and, for the really hardy, Atlantic swims!

Earth Hour 2010 - The Lark in the Dark

We are celebrating Earth Hour on Saturday 20th March with a candle lit music session in Scoil Ui Chonaill. Lights Out 8:30 PM.

Cluain Tarbh @ The Cobblestone 26 February

The second of our series of showcase evenings presenting the wealth of music, song and dance talent associated with our club takes place in the Cobblestone pub in Smithfield on February 26th 2010.
The night will feature accordion player Seamus Meehan with Fran Meehan, Joanne O'Connor and Mary Corcoran. Also appearing is singer Gerry O'Reilly with support from Ciara Nic Charthaigh (fiddle) and Ciara O'Grady (harp) and Margaruite Collins (flute).
All are welcome to enjoy the performances and join in the informal session afterwards! Entry €5 on the door. Starts 8:30PM. Over 18s only (obviously!)

Chasing the wren - St Stephen's Day Dec 26th

In time honoured tradition club members will be meeting at Grainger's Pub near the Fairview end of the Malahide Road at 1pm. We will visit pubs and clubs about the area and entertain the revellers. Fancy dress obligatory - the more outrageous the better! There will be a prize for the best costume.

Our Under 12s, under 15s and under 18 bands will perform. There is also the possibility that a "special visitor" might arrive!
Families of children attending our Saturday morning classes in Marino are very welcome to come along and catch a glimpse of what all those whistle lessons can lead to.

Pre-Christmas Bash November 28th 2009

All members - adults and children - are invited to our Christmas Party. It takes place on Saturday 28th November in Malahide Tennis Club. Format is simple - music, song, dance and craic. Musicians of all ages and standards are asked to bring along their instruments.
Admission free but bring along food of some sort - sandwiches, cakes, crisps, ...
We start at 7:30PM so there will be NO band practice that night!

Graduation Night September 25th 2009

Our Graduation Night, when we honour the players leaving the Under 18 band, takes place on Friday, September 25th at 8pm in Scoil Ui Chonaill clubhouse. All adults and all in the present Under 18 band are invited for an evening of ceol, caint agus craic.

Sean Nós Dancing Course

We are running a five week long Sean Nós Dancing Course. Open to both adults and children. Registration will take place at St Gabriel's Parish Hall, Dollymount, Saturday evening 12th Sept 2009. The course will start Saturday 19th Sept and will run in St Gabriel's from 4.45 to 5.45pm. The cost for the five weeks is €25.

Cluain Tarbh support Liam Ó'Maonlaí

The legendary Liam Ó Maonlaí will be performing as part of the Northside Music Festival organised by Dublin City Council's Arts Office. Ceoltóirí Chluain Tarbh have been invited to provide support.
