Congratulations to Liam O'Connor & Sean McKeon

"Dublin Made Me" the excellent new CD by Liam O'Connor and Sean McKeon was nominated as album of the week in the Irish Times. Congratulations lads! Copies are available for sale at the desk in Marino. By the way...just luurrrvve the title lads!

Reelan album launch

The group Reelan had a very successful launch of the new CD "The Crooked Picture" at the Cobblestone on January 30th. It is a uniquely interesting CD in that all the music, while it is in the traditional idiom, is newly composed (by fiddle player Sandie Purcell.) Two of our teachers also play on the CD - Aoife Mullen and Andy Meaney - so we feel rather chuffed to be basking in their collective glory! Copies of the CD are available at the desk on Saturday mornings.

Dissolution of Cluain Tarbh CCE

The branch has acquired, under FOI legislation, copies of all correspondence between CCE and the Dept of Arts, Sports and Tourism relating to the Clasac Arts Centre and the dissolution of Cluain Tarbh. This correspondence throws a very interesting light on the assertions made by CCE. We have had this material for some time now but, in order to give the Ard Comhairle time to reflect on their actions and to consider our appeal, we did not make it public. However, our appeal for the rescinding the dissolution and for mediation to resolve the disputed issues has been ignored for five months. We now feel that we have no choice but to make the material in our possession public. It is available here.

Instrument Loan Scheme

The branch has three junior size fiddles available for loan - one quarter size, one half size and one three-quarter size. To encourage any child who feels they might like to start the fiddle they are being made available for loan for a year for free. The branch also has one set of Uileann pipes available for loan. Ask at the desk on Saturday morning.
